EULEX – responds to FOL?s criticism

It took several hours for European mission to respond after the release of a press conference of Movement FOL, which criticized the work of EULEX in Kosovo. In a press release, it was stated that EULEX welcomes the debates dealing with the rule of law in Kosovo, and the active participation of civil society in these matters.

“However, EULEX would like to stress that it takes very seriously the fight against organized crime and corruption. Since the establishment of the mission, EULEX judges have taken about 160 decisions, including 13 decisions on corruption cases and 4 decisions on organized crime cases. EULEX prosecutors are investigating 91 cases on corruption and 55 corruption and organized crime cases. Moreover, along with Kosovo institutions was established Anti-Corruption Task Force in order to investigate high profile cases. It should be taken into consideration that it takes time to investigate cases properly,” was stated in the communication.

Further, it states that “EULEX, the European Union Rule of Law Mission, reports regularly to the institutions and member countries of the European Union for its work in Kosovo, and has full support from the EU”.
