L\u00ebvizja FOL began its work in 2008 as a project within the Program for Active Citizenship at the Forum for Civic Initiatives. In 2009, it was officially registered as an independent non-governmental organization, headquartered in Pristina, Kosovo. Its founders were Petrit Zogaj, Mexhide Demolli-Nimani, and Ramadan Ilazi.<\/p>\n
L\u00ebvizja FOL is dedicated to promoting transparency and accountability in public institutions. Our mission focuses on combating corruption and ensuring effective governance, particularly through monitoring public institutions.<\/p>\n
FOL has been actively engaged in monitoring the justice system and advocating for necessary reforms, contributing to the development of new laws that support democratic principles. A key component of our efforts is to increase access to justice, ensuring that legal processes are equitable and accessible to all citizens. We support and work on initiatives aimed at improving transparency within the justice system, such as advocating for the publication of judicial decisions to raise public awareness and accountability.<\/p>\n
Our work also includes overseeing the appointment of high-ranking public officials, ensuring stricter oversight to prevent corruption.<\/p>\n
In addition to our anti-corruption initiatives, FOL plays a crucial role in protecting whistleblowers, ensuring that those who expose corruption or wrongdoing are safeguarded from retaliation. We support anti-SLAPP legislation (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) to protect individuals who challenge or criticize public figures and institutions.<\/p>\n
FOL’s commitment to good governance is further illustrated by our active participation in working groups focused on drafting and reviewing legislation. This involvement ensures that new laws promote transparency, accountability, and effective governance.<\/p>\n
L\u00ebvizja FOL has participated in numerous initiatives, working groups, and regional networks, including international collaborations such as with UNCAC, where we are a member organization contributing to various joint initiatives on combating corruption.<\/p>\n
FOL is a member of the Balkan Tender Watch coalition, which aims to enhance public procurement processes in Western Balkan countries. All these countries are aspiring to initiate accession negotiations, where public procurement plays a significant role.<\/p>\n
Through our comprehensive approach to monitoring, advocacy, engagement, and legislative research, FOL continues to strengthen Kosovo’s democratic institutions, foster a culture of transparency, and support the rule of law.<\/p>\n\n\n
